It is often said that the impression usually determines the kind of a person one is, that is why most people do their best to look good in order to give out a lasting first impression. These are mostly women; they will try and wear the most fashionable dress there is, wear shoes and carry designer bags. When it comes to hair this is not an exception, the latest and unique hair style is what every woman wants. But for others having the latest hairstyle has not been possible due to some circumstances. In order to have a strong healthy hair it is important for every woman to know scalp treatment for dandruff, its causes and symptoms.

Dandruff is a skin condition whereby white flakes shed off from the scalp. It is not contagious though it makes a person feel itchy and uncomfortable, they can also be embarrassing to the person bearing it. It can be difficult to treat that is why some people opt to shave their hair.

The common causes for this condition are; dead cells contained in the scalp which brings about the small white or grey flakes. Not combing the hair can also be a cause; research found out that people who do not comb their hair have more chances of getting dandruff.

Another cause is dry skin- this is the commonest cause of this condition, flakes from dry skin are more and smaller compared to the normal flakes. Oily skin is another cause. Its also known as seborrheic dermatitis, its also a common condition and it is very irritating.

The symptom of dandruff is usually the white or grey flakes in the scalp. They are visible when one wears a dark cloth because they fall off on a person shoulders. This scalp condition is usually harmless but it is chronic, though it can be controlled.

The treatment for this condition depends on whether one has a severe or a mild condition. For a mild condition one needs to; comb their hair at least once on a daily basis, this will help in scratching off the flakes. One can also wash their hair with a little shampoo daily to wash of the dry cells. Another thing one can do is avoid scratching their scalp at all times even when washing with a shampoo, instead one should just massage gently. Some hair products should also be avoided or instead avoid mixing different types of hair products.

Another highly recommended home treatment is the use of apple cedar vinegar. The procedure is really easy when using vinegar what one needs to do is to take a cup of vinegar and mix it with warm water. This is a natural remedy so the quantity does not really matter as there are no side effects. When washing hair one should massage gently and not scratch as this prevents hair breakage and also prevents the flakes from surfacing.

The only disadvantage of using vinegar is the smell. If you use it you will have to wait for at least eight to twelve hours for the smell to go away, which does not actually go away completely. That means you will have to use it on a day you are planning to stay indoors.
