By Jason Kordobu

Foot and ankle pain can be due to any number of disorders. Immediate and future problems can be caused by a twisted ankle. It may be turned inward resulting in a sprain if the individual steps on a stone or wears shoes with inadequate support. Precautions to take can be outlined by a Cambridge ON Chiropractor as well as necessary care being provided when an injury occurs.

Some of the shoe styles worn are too high and do not offer any support. A break is uncommon, but ligaments of an ankle might be torn. The resultant swelling and bruising might require a four to six week period to heal. After healing, there may be scar tissue to deal with.

It is common to injure or irritate the ball of your foot, which is where the toes join the metatarsals on the sole. One of the metatarsals, or long bones, may become misaligned. This condition, called metatarsalgia, can result from a stress fracture or a pair of stylish stiletto-heeled shoes.

The client may feel pain on the top of the foot. It is often caused by irritated joints in the toes. If someone has unusually high arches, that is another possible cause. If he wears tight shoes, that can be at the root of any problem.

The Achilles tendon is positioned at the heel of your foot. Strain or stressful movements can cause Achilles tendonitis affecting the heel and ankle. Repeated movements during a sporting competition can lead to this development over the course of a seasons worth of games.

It is not immediately obvious that when the foot bones are misaligned it can cause problematic conditions all the way up to the lower back. The knees may be affected. The joints in the hips can also feel the pain. The chiropractor will be aware of any relationship between foot problems and those present in the other places. When the bones in your feet are positioned correctly the other problems will be alleviated.
