Probiotics are essential for maintaining your body in perfect condition. They are actually friendly bacteria needed for proper digestion. These beneficial bacteria are important for your immune system and allow better absorption of different nutrients. Most good bacteria-rich foods comes from dairy products, but there are some other, really good sources for natural, lactose free probiotics you can use instead.

One of the best natural sources of these highly beneficial substances is sauerkraut. This fermented cabbage is full of beneficial things, including vitamin C. It can be used fresh, as a salad, combined with a little bit of garlic and vegetable oil. You can also prepare numerous tasty dishes using this cheap and widely available form of lactose free fermented food.

Miso is really good source of friendly bacteria. This type of fermented soya beans should never be over heated, because heating will destroy some of these valuable substances, for example food enzymes. It contains numerous other nutritional substances, minerals such as manganese and zinc as well. Miso is also a good source of vitamin K, and contains also valuable vitamin B6.

If your kids drink sweetened sodas, offer them ginger beer instead. Fizzy and tasty, this drink contains natural probiotics that will boost up their immune system. Of course, you shouldn't overuse this drink, because it also contains sugar. In any case, this is really affordable, available and effective way of improving your digestion and your health in general, perfectly naturally.

Another alternative for your sweet drinks and a great source of valuable minerals, vitamins and probiotics is called coconut kefir. It is fermented from coconut milk and contains considerable amounts of calcium and potassium, among other valuable things. It also contains some sugar, but still, its glycemic index is quite low, thanks to some other substances. That's why you can take it even if you have to count your calories.

A type of fermented tea called Kombucha is rich in friendly bacteria and vitamin B12. This extraordinary tea also contains a thing called glucaric acid, good in tumor prevention. It is well-known that Kombucha tea detoxifies the entire organism on perfectly natural way, but it will also improve your digestion and help you maintain your health in perfect condition.

Pickles are also very good for your digestion. Pickled foods fermented using spices and salt, such as pickled ginger and Japanese pickled plums contain a great amount of good bacteria. Of course, similar products that contain vinegar don't have such properties, because their acidity is a result of added vinegar, not the product of natural fermentation. Include pickled foods in your regular diet, and you will improve your digestion.

Even if you are a vegan, or lactose intolerant, you can still find different foods to replace good bacteria and improve your digestion naturally, without taking supplements in pills. Of course, you can also find different supplements containing good bacteria that are also lactose free. It is especially important to take similar products when you have to use antibiotics, because they might cause diarrhea and other stomach problems.
